The Interesting History Behind The Egg Chair Made By Arne Jacosen

The Egg chair was created in the 1950s, and since then it has become a popular and recognized piece of mid-century furniture. This timeless chair was created by Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the SAS Royal Hotel in central Copenhagen, Denmark.

Al at that time coveted designer; Arne Jacobsen, was entrusted with the design of all the elements of the building, from the walls to the furniture, not only great details like that but also was the creative director of small accents such as the cutlery that would be used in the restaurant, the lighting of ashtrays, etc. While he was in charge of many aspects of the hotel, most notably and remembered for the curvy Egg Chair, he took the opportunity to put his ideas on how architecture and furniture can be integrated exactly into practice.
